Alan M. Bateman Science Prize (1967)
ALAN M. BATEMAN SCIENCE PRIZE (1967). Alan M. Bateman, Ph.D. 1913, a Fellow of the College. Awarded to a senior majoring in the natural sciences for overall excellence in the sciences during his/her years of residence at Silliman.
Arts Prize (1967)
ARTS PRIZE (1967). Established by Heads of College and Fellows. Awarded at Commencement to that senior who has created a work of art, or who has interpreted creatively the artistic work of others with distinction and merit, while carrying out the objectives of his/her major.

ATHLETIC PRIZE. Given to the senior who has contributed most to the College’s athletic program.

B. EDWARD BENSINGER, 3d, B.A. 1951, PRIZE. Awarded annually to the graduating senior in Davenport College who, in the opinion of the Head of College and Fellows, will, by virtue of his/her proposed program, make best use of this additional support.
Bergin Cup
BERGIN CUP. Given in appreciation of Thomas G. Bergin, Head of Timothy Dwight College 1953-68, by the Class of 1968. Awarded each year to a member of the senior class for outstanding character, wit and scholarship in the humanities.
Bishop Berkeley Prize
BISHOP BERKELEY PRIZE. Awarded to that member of the College who has “best discovered the intellectual potentialities of a university.”
Branford College Award
BRANFORD COLLEGE AWARD. Awarded to a senior for outstanding contribution to the quality of life in Branford College.
Charles E. Clark Memorial Award
CHARLES E. CLARK MEMORIAL AWARD. Named for Charles E. Clark, B.A. 1911, a Fellow of the College, and awarded to a senior for high standing and academic excellence during the student’s residence at Silliman.
Charles Seymour Prize (1963)
CHARLES SEYMOUR PRIZE (1963). Richard L. Purdy, B.A. 1925, as a memorial to Charles Seymour, B.A. 1908, first Head of Berkeley College, and President of the University 1937-50. To be awarded annually to that Berkeley senior who has maintained the highest standing in the humanities.
Chauncey Brewster Tinker Prize (1955)
CHAUNCEY BREWSTER TINKER PRIZE (1955). Malcolm P. Aldrich, B.A. 1922, out of respect and admiration for the outstanding contribution which Professor Tinker has made to the intellectual life of Yale.” Awarded annually to a student in Davenport College.”
Clarence W. Mendell Prizes
CLARENCE W. MENDELL PRIZES. Established in honor of Clarence W. Mendell, B.A. 1904, Head of College from 1931 to 1943. Given to three members of the senior class who are judged to have contributed the most to the intellectual life of Branford College.
Cogswell Award (1951)
COGSWELL AWARD (1951). Ledyard Cogswell, Jr., Class of 1899. Given to three seniors chosen for their contributions as shown by their activities, interest, and influence on the life of Grace Hopper College as a distinctive part of Yale University.
Daniel Merriman Prize (1967)
DANIEL MERRIMAN PRIZE (1967). B. Edward Bensinger, 3d, B.A. 1951, in honor of the second Head of College. Presented each year at Commencement to a senior in Davenport College for outstanding participation and leadership.
David Dearborn Lapham Memorial Scholarship (1956)
DAVID DEARBORN LAPHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1956). Parents and friends of David Lapham of the Class of 1957, to perpetuate his memory. Awarded each year to no more than three students in Davenport College.
Davie Award
THE DAVIE AWARD. Given in memory of James Stewart Davie, Dean of Timothy Dwight College, 1963-84. Awarded each year to a senior for outstanding contributions to the quality of life in Timothy Dwight College.
Dean Temple Memorial Trophy
DEAN TEMPLE MEMORIAL TROPHY. Awarded to a senior for distinguished performance in intercollege athletics.
Dwight V. Waterman Memorial Prize (1967)
DWIGHT V. WATERMAN MEMORIAL PRIZE (1967). Derived from a fund created by the family, friends, and classmates of a member of the Class of 1968, and awarded to a junior in the College.
Edgar J. Boell Prize (1975)
EDGAR J. BOELL PRIZE (1975). Colleagues, students, and friends of Professor Boell. Awarded annually to a senior in Jonathan Edwards College, chosen by the Head and Fellows of the College.
Emerson Tuttle Cup (1947)
EMERSON TUTTLE CUP (1947). Established in memory of Emerson Tuttle, B.A. 1914, Head of Davenport College 1933-46. Presented annually at Commencement to the senior most distinguished for scholastic attainments.
Emerson Tuttle Scholarship (1947)
EMERSON TUTTLE SCHOLARSHIP (1947). Friends and relatives, in memory of Emerson Tuttle, B.A. 1914, Head of Davenport College 1933-46. Awarded annually to a student in Davenport, preferably a senior, who best combines high-ranking scholarship and contribution to the College and its life by his/her personal standards.
Emily L. Saslow (JE '01) Memorial Prize (2006)
THE EMILY L. SASLOW (JE ‘01) MEMORIAL PRIZE (2006). Awarded to a graduating member of the Jonathan Edwards College class who has written an exceptional senior essay on a constitutional issue. If such an essay has not been submitted in a given year, senior essays in American history or political science most relevant to a constitutional issue will be considered.

ERNEST F. THOMPSON CUP. Awarded to a senior for outstanding contributions to the life of Ezra Stiles College.
Fellows' Award
FELLOWS’ AWARD. One or two prizes are awarded each year to the graduating Morse senior(s) who has (have) made the greatest contributions to the life of the College.

Fellows' Prize (1957)
FELLOWS’ PRIZE (1957). Fellows of the College. Three prizes are usually awarded each year to seniors for distinguished intellectual achievement above and beyond the call of academic duty, in order to single out accomplishments of unusual enterprise and imagination, in various fields of study, which might remain unrecognized by the regular University awards for high scholarship.
Fenmore R. Seton Award
FENMORE R. SETON AWARD. Presented to a member of Grace Hopper College, who, in the opinion of the Head of College, has demonstrably contributed to increased understanding and cooperation between students at Yale and citizens of the City of New Haven.
Garside Cup (1966)
GARSIDE CUP (1966). Given by the undergraduates of the College as a tribute to Charles Garside, Jr., Fellow of Timothy Dwight 1957-66, and awarded annually to that senior in the College who has most highly distinguished him/herself in the field of history.
Gary Stein Memorial Internship
GARY STEIN MEMORIAL INTERNSHIP. Established in memory of Gary Stein, Ezra Stiles 1976, who died tragically in December, 1974, in New Haven. Awarded to an undergraduate for a summer research project that will help bring about practical effects of a scientific, social, or educational nature.
George A. Schrader, Jr. Prize
GEORGE A. SCHRADER, JR., PRIZE. Named to honor the third Head of the College (1959-66) and awarded for excellence in the humanities.
Gerald R. Ford Scholar-Athlete Award (1977)
GERALD R. FORD SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD (1977). President Gerald R. Ford. Presented annually at Commencement to the graduating senior of Timothy Dwight College who in his/her four years at Yale best exemplifies qualities of academic excellence and athletic achievement.
Gimbel High Scholarship (1957)
GIMBEL HIGH SCHOLARSHIP (1957). Colonel Richard Gimbel, B.A. 1920. Awarded annually to the residential college with the highest academic standing.
Gordon Cup (1946)
GORDON CUP (1946). Richardson Dilworth, B.A. 1938, in memory of his classmate, Edward McGuire Gordon. Awarded each year to that member of the senior class in Timothy Dwight who, by character, personality and leadership, and by participation in the activities of the University has inspired in others a devotion to the finest traditions of Yale.
Helen Davenpot Fessenden Memorial Scholarship (1950)
HELEN DAVENPORT FESSENDEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1950). Mrs. Frank C. Staniland, in memory of her mother, a direct descendant of John Davenport. Awarded annually to a student in Davenport College.
Henry Edwards Ellsworth Memorial (1960)
HENRY EDWARDS ELLSWORTH MEMORIAL (1960). Mrs. Ellsworth in memory of her husband, Henry Edwards Ellsworth, B.A. 1900. Awarded annually to a senior in Jonathan Edwards College who, in the opinion of the Head of College and Fellows, has written, as part of his/her program of studies, the most distinguished essay or carried out the most significant piece of research during the year.

HERBERT AND JEAN CAHOON AWARD (1981). Anonymous alumnus of Morse. Awarded each year to that senior who, in the spirit of the Cahoons, has done the most for the larger New Haven community during his/her Yale career.

Mary Casner Prize (1974)
MARY CASNER PRIZE (1974). Donated by the Saybrook College Council to honor Mary Casner, a devoted member of the Saybrook community. To be awarded by the Head of College and Dean to that senior who, in their opinion, has contributed most to the spirit and quality of life in Saybrook during his/her career at Yale.
Mary Christine Warfield Award (1990)
MARY CHRISTINE WARFIELD AWARD (1990). This award is given in honor of the late Mary Christine Warfield (PC 1991). To be awarded annually to the Pierson student who has exhibited strength in the face of physical or other adversity, remaining determined and hopeful despite his or her situation. The recipient will also have an excellent academic record.

NORMAN S. BUCK TROPHY. Established to honor Norman S. Buck, B.A. 1913, Master of the College 1943-59. For outstanding contribution to the life of Branford College.
O'Connor Award (1972)
O’CONNOR AWARD (1972). Mr. and Mrs. Robert O’Connor, in memory of their daughter Susan Redden O’Connor, Class of 1973. Awarded each year to the senior who expresses the eager, generous, joyful spirit that Susan brought to Timothy Dwight College.

ROBERT PERKINS AWARD. Honors a senior or seniors who have participated in an outstanding way in intramural sports.
Seymour L. Lustman Memorial Prize (1972)
SEYMOUR L. LUSTMAN MEMORIAL PRIZE (1972). Friends and Fellows of Davenport College, in memory of the late Head of College. Awarded at Commencement to a graduating senior in Davenport College who has contributed to the artistic and cultural aspects of the life of the College and who has submitted the best proposal for the use of the prize in support of a project in those areas.

SCHULZ PRIZE. Awarded in memory of George J. Schulz, Professor of Engineering and Applied Science and Fellow of Silliman College, to a senior majoring in the physical sciences or in mathematics for academic excellence during residence in Silliman College.

Steve Adams Prize (1984)
STEVE ADAMS PRIZE (1984) Given by the Duke’s Men of 1983-84 in memory of Steve Adams, Class of 1986. Awarded annually to the graduating Silliman senior who through community service and the performing arts best exemplifies a love of life, an enthusiasm, and a concern for others which earned Steve the admiration and affection of his peers.

SUSAN J. SMITH ARTS PRIZE. Established to honor Susan J. Smith, Associate Head of Branford College, 1996-2011. Awarded to members of the senior class for outstanding contribution in the arts.

V. BROWNE IRISH. Established by Thomas W. Irish, SM ‘55, in memory of his father V. Browne Irish ‘25, will be awarded annually to that member of the senior class of Silliman College who has excelled in the performing arts for at least two years and who through effort in performance and encouragement of fellow students has contributed to the nurturing and flourishing of the performing arts in the College and the University.
