Statement from Kimberly Goff-Crews, University Secretary and Vice President for University Life

May 27, 2020

There is news nationally of hate and invective being directed toward Asians and Asian-Americans, wrongfully connecting them to the spread of COVID-19.  There are reports of a small number of cases in which our own faculty members and students have been called derogatory names on the streets.

There is no place for hate at Yale or in New Haven. We will support any community member who faces harassment or discrimination, and want all members of the Yale community to know that resources are available.  If students have concerns about discrimination and harassment, they can contact deans’ designees or the Office of Institutional Equity and Access (OIEA).  Employees can contact the OIEA.  Other supports include Mental Health & Counseling, the Chaplain’s Office, Office of International Students and Scholars, the Yale Police Department, and faculty advisors.
