Extraordinary mountain climber, adventurer, environmentalist, and enlightened founder and owner of Patagonia, Inc., you have shown us by your example how to love and to live in the wilderness without doing it harm. Your mountaineering hardware, introduced in the 1960's, allowed climbers to ascend rock faces without leaving indelible scars - or, even worse, discarded metal equipment. Your own contribution to the protection of the environment, and your company's active participation in this cause, provide a model of social responsibility.
